Tips for a great U-Pick Adventure
- Dress appropriately. There is sun, scratchy plant material, bugs, uneven ground and possible mud. Long sleeves, jeans, gym shoes, sunscreen, bug spray and hats are recommended.
- Bring a 5-gallon bucket. It works great to transport your flowers home, and it should be super-clean—flowers and cooties don’t mix!
- Bring shears. A clean, sharp pair of pruning shears is essential to cut flowers. We’ll have some available, but if you have some, bring them so you don’t have to wait in line. (You are responsible for your actions and actions of your family while using shears … Like mom always said, “No running!”)
- Bring a snack. Harvesting beautiful flowers really works up an appetite, so pack a picnic and stay awhile! (Samantha is a sucker for chocolate, just sayin’.)
Prices vary depending upon the variety harvested. Most range from $0.50 to $1 per stem with a few ranging from $3-$5 per stem. The crops will be clearly marked in the fields so you won’t be surprised at checkout.
